McDonald’s may reopen in August or September in Ukraine

The McDonald’s chain, which stopped working in Ukraine with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, can finally resume its work. Ukrainians will be able to enjoy their favorite cheeseburger and potatoes approximately in August – September.

This is confirmed by the draft decision of the Kyiv City Council regarding the lease of plots of land at 26 Obolonsky Avenue to a well-known restaurant for 10 years. One of the chain’s restaurants is already located at this address, but all establishments were temporarily closed due to the war. With this decision, the company ‘McDonald’s UKRAINE LTD’ once again formalizes the right to lease the land.

Earlier, the CEO of the McDonald’s office in Ukraine, Yuliya Badritdinova, said that the chain is working on resuming operations in Ukraine. Although she did not name specific terms, she noted that, in preparation for the opening, the company is updating security protocols.

According to Badritdinova, the company is checking whether there are bomb shelters near the restaurants. During an air raid, establishments must be closed urgently, which is quite a difficult process because a restaurant is a mini-factory with complex equipment and a large number of visitors.

Let’s add that after the start of the full-scale war, the McDonald’s chain in Ukraine closed. It was noted that such a decision was approved for the safety of employees. In May, the company upset its supporters by announcing that all restaurants in Ukraine would remain closed until the end of the war.
