Mercedes electric truck traveled 1000 km with a 40-ton load, making only one stop for recharging
The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric truck has successfully tested its long-distance capability by driving more than 1,000 km across the Alps with one stop for recharging.
The truck was loaded with 40 tons of cargo and traveled 530 kilometers from Stuttgart, Germany, to Bolzano, Italy. He recharged there and drove back. It was his only stop. Mercedes-Benz claims that this success was made possible by the combination of “an efficient drive train, a highly efficient regeneration system” and a high battery capacity.
The eActros 600 has three lithium-iron-phosphate batteries and two 400 kW electric motors. In September 2022, Mercedes-Benz announced that the electric car would have a range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. The truck can also be charged to 20-80% in less than 30 minutes. The official debut of the electric car will take place on October 10, and mass production is planned for 2024.
