North Korea claims that its spy satellite has already photographed the White House, the Pentagon and several US military facilities

North Korea claims that its spy satellite has photographed the White House, the Pentagon, and a US naval base.

According to Yonhap and KCNA, the DPRK claims that its military spy satellite took photos of the White House, the Pentagon, and nuclear aircraft carriers moored at a US naval base.

DPRK leader Kim Jong-un viewed the images and received an operational report from the Pyongyang Main Control Center of the National Aerospace Technology Administration (NATA).

According to media reports, the spy satellite also photographed the Norfolk Naval Base, the Newport News shipyard, and an airfield in Virginia. The images allegedly show four nuclear-powered aircraft carriers of the US Navy and a British aircraft carrier. At the same time, North Korea has not released the photos taken by its spy satellite.

DPRK’s “spy satellite”: what is known

On November 22, 2023, North Korea announced that it had successfully launched a new “spy satellite” into orbit. On the same day, the DPRK claimed that Kim Jong-un had seen pictures of American military facilities in Guam. South Korea’s intelligence agencies noted that Pyongyang received assistance from Moscow to launch the satellite.

It is noteworthy that after the DPRK ignored warnings about the launch of a “spy satellite” into space, South Korea suspended the implementation of part of the military agreement with the North adopted in 2018. This means that Seoul will increase surveillance along the fortified border with the DPRK.
