Not to stay up late: Instagram will have “night tips” for teenagers
To limit the time teenagers spend on Instagram, the platform is introducing “nighttime tips” that it’s time for bed.
This was reported by Tech crunch.
These reminders will appear if teens spend more than 10 minutes watching Reels or personal messages after 10 p.m.
Notifications will remind users that it’s too late and encourage them to close the app.
At the same time, these tips will be displayed automatically, so young users will not be able to turn them off. However, they will have the option to reject this urge and continue using the app.
It is noted that teenagers will start seeing messages with the inscription: “Time for a break?” followed by a reminder: “It’s getting late. Consider closing Instagram for the night.”
The new nightly tips complement other Instagram features to reduce time spent on the social network. Users can, for example, enable the “Take a break” feature, which shows full-screen reminders for regular breaks. In addition, there is a “Quiet Mode” that allows teens to turn off notifications and notify others that they will not be active online for a certain period of time.
