On Saturday, August 5, the highest electricity consumption for the entire summer weekend was recorded – Ukrenergo
Saturday, August 5, saw the highest consumption of any weekend of the summer. This was reported by Ukrenergo.
Consumption was 10.7% higher than the previous weekend. For the power system, this is the capacity of more than 5 thermal power units that had to be additionally switched on.
In addition, the maximum consumption was 1.5% higher than on a working day on Friday, which is atypical for a weekend. The reason for this is the abnormal heat and the active use of air conditioners. Such high consumption puts a significant strain on the power system, as the ability to attract additional capacity is severely limited due to large-scale repairs at many power plants, Ukrenergo notes.
ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION
On Friday afternoon, August 4, one nuclear power unit came out of scheduled maintenance. At the same time, another nuclear power unit of similar capacity went under repair on Saturday. In August, the largest number of power units are undergoing repairs, so electricity generation capacity is limited, especially in the evening.
EXPORT/IMPORT
Today, electricity is imported from Slovakia throughout the day with a maximum capacity of up to 350 MW, as well as from Moldova from 9:00 to 9:00 and 17:00 to 23:00 up to 40 MW. No exports, Ukrenergo says
REPAIRS
Part of the equipment at one of the substations in the northeastern region has been repaired. The enemy fired two missiles at the substation during massive shelling last fall, severely damaging key equipment. The partial restoration of the equipment has improved the reliability of electricity transmission through the trunk power grids for consumers. More time is needed to fully restore the substation’s functionality. The work is ongoing.
OBLENERGO NETWORKS
A total of 451 settlements remain without electricity due to the hostilities. As a result of Russian shelling, new damage has been caused to power grids in Sumy, Kharkiv and Kherson regions. The power is restored based on the security situation and with the permission of the military.
In addition, due to the bad weather, there are power outages in 276 settlements in Volyn, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions. Power is being restored.
