One of the missiles launched by the DPRK probably landed near the island of Hokkaido: Japan convenes national security council

North Korea conducted two missile launches off its east coast over the past day. The Prime Minister of Japan said that the country is forced to convene a meeting of the National Security Council.

This was reported by Reuters.

Tokyo said the second missile probably landed in the waters west of Japan’s main northern island, Hokkaido, at about 2:37 a.m.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida noted that there are no reports of injuries or damage caused by the missile launch. He also noted that Japan is forced to hold a meeting of the National Security Council to discuss North Korea’s actions.

This is the second launch, which came shortly after South Korea reported testing a short-range ballistic missile in the East Sea.

These events are the DPRK’s reaction to the negotiations between the United States and South Korea. The topic of discussion is deepening cooperation in preventing North Korea from using nuclear weapons.

As part of this cooperation, a U.S. nuclear submarine arrived in the South Korean port city.
