“Oppenheimer” earned $718 million, becoming one of the four highest-grossing films of the year

“Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer successfully completes its fifth weekend in theaters with an international box office addition of $32 million and a global total of $718 million. “Meanwhile, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie earned another $26.7 million in the regular session, bringing her total earnings to $1.279 billion.

Nolan’s historical drama became the director’s 4th highest-grossing film in the world, ahead of Interstellar, and the 4th biggest film of 2023 after The Super Mario Brothers at the Movies ($1.35 billion), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($845 million), and Barbie. “Oppenheimer is also the director’s highest-grossing film in 50 foreign markets, including Germany, India, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia.

This week, Oppenheimer will make its debut in Italy and Greece, and its premiere in China is scheduled for August 30.

Meanwhile, Mattel’s romantic comedy Barbie added another $26.7 million from 75 markets in its 5th session, bringing its international total to $711.9 million and global total to $1.279 billion. Greta Gerwig’s film became the second highest grossing WB film in the world and the fifth highest grossing film in the world. This is the studio’s highest profit in 30 markets, including the UK, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, and Poland.
