Romania and the US to conduct exercises with Ukraine in the Black Sea and Danube Delta

The Romanian and U.S. navies are jointly organizing the multinational Sea Breeze 23.3 exercise, which will take place from September 11 to 15 in the Romanian Navy’s area of responsibility in the Black Sea and Danube Delta.

This was reported by the Romanian Navy press service, cited by Interfax-Ukraine.

“The Sea Breeze 23.3 exercise, led by the Vice Admiral Ivan Georgescu Naval Component Command, will involve counter-explosive forces from Bulgaria, France, Great Britain, Romania, the United States, Turkey and Ukraine,” the Romanian national news agency AGERPRES said in a statement.

It is noted that the main purpose of the Sea Breeze 23.3 exercise is to practice operational and tactical cooperation between the participating countries in the field of countering explosive devices, in particular sea mines, in order to ensure freedom of navigation.

In July, the White House said that Russia had laid additional sea mines on the approaches to Ukrainian ports.
