Romania launches NATO naval exercise Sea Shield 24
Today, on April 8, NATO’s multinational naval exercise Sea Shield 24 kicked off in Romania with an opening ceremony in the port of Kostanța.
This was reported by Radio Romania.
The 9th edition of Sea Shield involves military personnel from Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, the United States, Moldova and Romania.
It is noted that more than 2.2 thousand people are involved in it. military personnel, 135 ships, aircraft and vehicles from 12 allied and partner countries.
“We need to work out operational procedures in the anti-submarine, surface and anti-aircraft environment, in the Black Sea, as well as in the river area of responsibility,” said Vice Admiral Mihai Panait, Chief of Staff of the Romanian Navy.
NATO’s multinational naval exercise Sea Shield 24 is aimed at training in all areas of warfare and increasing interoperability between participating forces.
On April 8, 20 soldiers from the Bundeswehr headquarters departed for Lithuania to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank. They have to create conditions for the further transfer of soldiers.
