On the night of September 29, a Ukrainian drone attacked an electrical substation in the Kursk region of Russia. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the interlocutor, it was to this power substation that important military facilities of the Russian invaders were connected.
The service warned the Russians that if they continue to strike at Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, they will receive many times more such strikes on their territory.
At the same time, the Russian authorities claim that 10 Ukrainian drones were allegedly shot down in the skies over the Kursk region. The regional governor, Roman Starovoit, stated that a drone dropped two explosive devices on a substation in Bil’ya Sloboda, Bilivsk district.
“One of the transformers caught fire. Five settlements and a hospital are without power. Fire crews have arrived at the scene. Power supply will be restored as soon as it is safe to do so,” he wrote.
- Recently, the head of the Defense Intelligence Service, Kirill Budanov, said that Ukraine is developing a program of “deterrence and retaliation” to counter Russia’s expected campaign of shelling energy infrastructure in the fall and winter.
- The Energy Ministry suggests that Russia will resume strikes on energy infrastructure with the onset of cold weather.
- The day before, the media began to spread information about the application of power outage schedules in Ukraine from October 1, 2023. The Ministry of Energy called these reports false and said that no blackouts were planned.
