The number of roundabouts is increasing in Kyiv. Urban planners consider them a safe form of traffic flow diversion.
Employees of the CP SHEU of the Dnipro district arranged a circular traffic “island” on the street. Peter Vershigory. The works were carried out in accordance with the changes to the traffic organization scheme and “to avoid complications in the movement of transport”.
The reconstruction of six intersections with the installation of roundabouts is planned. For example, on Pidvysotskogo Street near Hospital No. 12, work on the creation of a “ring” with a small radius, an island of danger for pedestrians and a bike path was already completed last year. A ring was also created at the intersection of Mykola Kibalchych Street and Shukhevich Avenue.
Kyiv’s specialists propose to arrange roundabouts at intersections in the future:
- St. Akhmatova and st. Drahomanova;
- St. Akhmatova and st. Urlivskaya;
- St. Vyshgorodskaya, ave. Pravdy and st. Ivashkevich;
- St. Bratislava and Lisovoy avenues;
- ave. Alishera Navoi and St. Kurnatovskyi;
- St. Kharchenko and st. Industrial
New roundabouts are planned to be built as part of the project “Improving road safety in cities of Ukraine”.
