Soviet Su-22 fighter jet crashes in Iran (Video)

A Su-22 fighter jet crashes in Iran. The plane crashed in Fars province, there were no casualties, the pilot managed to eject.

The Soviet airplane, now outdated, gained popularity in the early 1970s. Until now, Iran has had 8 vehicles of this type in service. Now there is one less.

The Su-22 is an export version of the Russian Su-17 fighter jet, which was developed in the first half of the 1960s. It was in service with the USSR and Russian air forces for three decades.

In the late 90s, both Russia and Ukraine decommissioned these vehicles. Ukraine currently uses one such aircraft for training purposes.

Interestingly, these outdated Soviet machines are still in use in some countries. Syria and Vietnam have the largest number of them – more than 20.
