Tesla will release “Redwood” – its cheapest electric crossover in 2025
Tesla has announced the launch of its newest electric car in mid-2025. According to Avtopilot, the electric crossover codenamed Redwood will be produced starting next year.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously announced the company’s plans to produce electric cars at affordable prices starting at $25,000. This will allow Tesla to compete with economy-class gasoline cars and Chinese electric cars, in particular those produced by BYD.
Initially, Tesla was supposed to release its first budget electric car at a price of about $25 thousand. back in 2020, but today the most affordable model from the manufacturer is the Model 3 sedan, which is sold in the United States at a price of $38,990.
In 2023, Tesla invited several suppliers to join the Redwood project, announcing plans to produce 10,000 cars a week. Production is scheduled to begin in June 2025.
Walter Isaacson, the author of Elon Musk’s biography, said that Tesla plans to release a low-cost self-driving taxi and an electric car priced at $25 thousand, which will be based on the same platform.
