The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive T-155 Firtina self-propelled artillery systems made in Turkey
Turkey will supply Ukraine with artillery systems of its own production T-155 Firtina. This was reported by Brigadier General Oleksiy Hromov.
The representative of the General Staff noted that such systems have not been put into service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine so far. The T-155 Firtina is a completely new system for Ukrainian artillerymen.
The T-155 Firtina is a localized version of the South Korean K9 Thunder. Representatives of the Turkish defense industry claim that Turkey has managed to establish production of all components of the artillery system except for the engine. The Turkish self-propelled gun received a modified tower, chassis and fire control system developed by local specialists.
The Turkish Defense Ministry planned to purchase 350 artillery pieces for the Turkish army. The latest public data indicate that the army has received 280 units of self-propelled guns.
