The latest kamikaze UAV from Ukroboronprom is able to return to the base
Ukroboronprom engineers are close to completing flight tests of the newest kamikaze UAV, capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 1,000 km. Oleg Boldyrev, who holds the post of head of the state concern, told the journalists of ‘Nastoyaschego vremnia’ about this.
The top manager noted that the new Ukrainian drone is similar to the Shahed-136. At the same time, the UAV developed by Ukroboronprom specialists has several features that distinguish it favorably from the Iranian UAV. The Ukrainian drone can return to the base after completing the task. Thus, it is reusable. The weight of the combat part of the aircraft is 75 kg.
Boldyrev emphasized that the long-range drone has already been assembled. The head of Ukroboronprom called him ‘patient zero’. Some of the UAV components are of foreign origin. For example, video cameras with high resolution are not produced in Ukraine. They have to be purchased abroad.
