The Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a homemade “Solntsepek” based on the A-22 MLRS for the first time

This MT-LB-based “shushpantser” was first photographed in the summer of this year, and a little over a month ago there were reports of this vehicle being used on the battlefield
The channel “War in Ukraine. Losses of equipment” channel, which tracks destroyed, damaged and trophy weapons on the battlefield in Ukraine, published a photo of a destroyed Russian “shushpunzer” based on an armored MT-LB tractor with an A-22 multiple rocket launcher system.

This is probably the first time our military destroyed an enemy MT-LB with such weapons. As noted, the enemy vehicle was hit near the village of Kozachi Lageri in Kherson region.

This case is noteworthy because such vehicles have been in the hands of racists quite recently – for the first time, photos of the A-22 shipboard MLRS mounted on the MT-LB appeared in June of this year.

At the same time, a little later, about two months later, the first report appeared that the enemy in the temporarily occupied Kherson region had used such an ersatz Solntsepek during one of the battles against our military, so it is possible that this vehicle was eventually destroyed.

“Shushpantsers with the A-22 Ogony shipboard MLRS can be called rare vehicles because the system itself is quite small, and there is also the question of the availability of ammunition for it.

The 140-mm MLRS A-22 Ogony is a flamethrower and incendiary ship system developed in the 70s and 80s and adopted in 1982, designed to be mounted on hovercraft.

It has 22 launchers for 140-mm shells, with a launch range of 4.5 km (high-explosive OF-45, incendiary ZZh-45) and 9.5 km (high-explosive OFD-45) depending on the type.
