The war in Israel: Musk urged to subscribe to accounts exposed for anti-Semitism and support of Russian Federation

Both resources have repeatedly published posts in which they wrote ambiguously about the war in Ukraine: in particular, they praised Sergey Lavrov and sympathized with the fate of the sunken cruiser “Moscow”.

Elon Musk, the owner of the social network X (formerly Twitter), published a post advising users to subscribe to two accounts that ambiguously characterized the war in Ukraine. He published the relevant post on Sunday, October 8, but deleted it a short time later without explaining the reasons.

“WarMonitor and OSINTdefender are good for monitoring the war in real time. You should also follow direct sources on the ground,” Elon Musk wrote.

As can be seen from the publication, it was about accounts in the social network X. The first of them, WarMonitor, calls itself a media company that publishes sensational news about geopolitics. He has 700 thousand followers on social network X. However, according to dev.ua media outlet, War Monitor has repeatedly posted materials insulting Ukrainians and admiring Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. In addition, this account published anti-Semitic materials.

OSINTdefender, for its part, describes its work as open-source intelligence monitoring, focusing on Europe and conflicts around the world. This account also posted materials that somehow support the Russian side in the war against Ukraine. For example, on April 15, 2022, the monitoring channel published a photo of the Russian cruiser Moskva, which was sunk in the Black Sea. According to OSINTdefender, the sailors from Moscow had nothing to do with the missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine, they were “noble” people and died “for peace.”

The war in Ukraine and Elon Musk

It is worth noting that Elon Musk was previously involved in a scandal related to the Russian-Ukrainian war. For example, on September 7, it was reported that Elon Musk’s engineers foiled an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine with marine drones off the coast of Crimea in 2022. And the billionaire himself gave this secret order. According to journalists, he was impressed after talking to the Russian leadership and was extremely afraid that after the attacks on Crimea, Russia would respond with a nuclear strike.

The next day, on September 8, Musk responded to accusations that he had disrupted a drone attack on the Russian fleet in Crimea. According to him, the Starlink regions in question have not been activated. The businessman also confirmed that he had received an urgent request from Ukrainian government agencies to activate Starlink on the entire route network to the temporarily occupied Sevastopol.

“Obviously, the goal was to sink most of the Russian fleet at anchor. If I had agreed to their request, SpaceX would have been a clear accomplice in a major act of war and escalation of the conflict,” he said.

On September 10, Elon Musk said on the social network X (formerly Twitter) that he does not consider himself a traitor for disconnecting the Starlink system in the Crimea. He added that he is a US citizen and has only an American passport. And the United States did not declare war on Russia.

After that, US Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democratic Party member of the Armed Services Committee, demanded that Elon Musk’s activities be investigated in connection with the “Ukrainian incident” in 2022. Warren said that it is necessary to find out whether the billionaire is really able to influence the US government’s foreign policy. It is also worth understanding whether officials have the tools to influence it.

For his part, Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman and Democratic Party member Jack Reed noted that Elon Musk has indeed made space more accessible, but at the same time, he has gotten too close to national security issues.

It should be noted that a few days after it became known that Musk was involved in the Ukrainian military’s operation in Crimea, Russian President Vladimir Putin started talking about the American businessman. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum, the politician called Musk “an outstanding person.” “As for Elon Musk’s private business. He is definitely an outstanding person, we must recognize this. I think this is recognized all over the world. He is an active and talented businessman. He is doing a lot of things, including with the support of the American state,” he said.
