Turkish drone with Ukrainian AKINCI B engine broke altitude record
The AKINCI B UAV unmanned aerial vehicle set a new altitude record by performing a test flight at an altitude of 10.7 km.
This was announced by the director of Baykar Makina Selchuk Bayraktar on Twitter.
“The AKINCI B UAV has passed an endurance test flight,” the statement said.
Bayraktar notes that the drone flew at an altitude of 35,000 feet (ca. 11 km), which is almost 10.7 km.
At the end of March, the Turkish company Baykar Makina presented a new UAV with a Ukrainian engine.
“MUIS will be equipped with a jet engine and is expected to be able to take off and land on Turkey’s flagship landing craft TCG Anadolu (under construction),” the statement said.
As Halyuk Bayraktar said earlier, AKINCI UAVs with different power engines of Ukrainian production are on different versions of this combat drone. In particular, these are engines manufactured by Ivchenko-Progress and Motor Sich JSC.
This drone will be the company’s first jet drone. The platform will fly at supersonic speeds at high altitudes. The first flight was previously scheduled for 2023.
