Ukraine is working on the transfer of more Patriot systems to the USA, the ambassador said

According to Oksana Markarova, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, after the visit of Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Washington, the US Congress intensified the decision-making process regarding assistance to Kyiv.

In Ukraine, they are already working to ensure that the USA transfers as many Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems as possible. The Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, Oksana Markarova, told about this on the air of the Ukrainian TV.

According to her, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a meeting with US President Joe Biden sent a signal that Kyiv needs as many of these systems as possible.

“We can not only wait, but we are working on it … I hope that we can contract some systems for the future,” she said.

Markarova also noted that Zelensky’s visit to Washington on December 19 has already yielded some results. She said that the decision-making process has intensified in the US Congress.

In particular, this is a bill on the possibility of bringing Russian criminals to justice in the United States, $45 billion in aid to Ukraine, and an amendment authorizing the US prosecutor to use confiscated Russian assets as aid to Kyiv.

“And work on the security package, which includes Patriot, but there are not only them, there are many new opportunities,” the ambassador noted.

It will be recalled that on December 23, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced that they had approved the list of military personnel who will master Patriot air defense systems in one of the NATO countries. The command noted that it will take more time to master these systems because they are more powerful and longer-range equipment.

On December 22, the Kremlin reacted to the US decision to hand over the Patriot complexes. Putin’s spokesman, Dmytro Peskov, said that the transfer of the air defense system would not affect the “achievement of the goal of the special operation” and that the systems would be a legitimate target for the Russian army.
