Ukrainian Armed Forces demonstrate Ukrainian fire system “Sabre” near Vuhledar (video)
According to the military, they are currently training soldiers to operate the turret remotely and simultaneously equipping positions for it.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have demonstrated a domestic fire system “Sabre” – a remote-controlled turret for a machine gun. The corresponding video was published on Monday, May 1, by the public relations service of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian development has already been delivered to the frontline near Vuhledar, Donetsk Oblast. The soldiers are currently being trained to operate and configure the system. At the same time, Ukrainian defenders are equipping their positions with it.
According to one of the TRO soldiers, the turret is designed for the 7.62 mm Kalashnikov machine gun (PKT). The fire system is being installed with three boxes of ammunition: 250, 450 and 600 rounds.
“Sabre” operates under remote control. It can be connected via a network cable or Wi-Fi. However, the TRO notes that the second connection method is used as a last resort, as it can help enemy forces identify the position.
“The turret can be mounted on vehicles or operate stationary. The ‘control’ is remote. This allows us to save the lives of our soldiers. Another combat module near Vuhledar will respond to Moscow’s encroachments – “Sabre!”, the statement reads.
On April 24, the soldiers of the 68th separate hunting brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush showed the Sabre complex, which they called WALL’YA – by analogy with the popular cartoon WALL-E.
