Ukrainian car plant Eurocar has resumed assembly of Skoda cars

Today, June 10, 2022, the Ukrainian car plant ‘Eurocar’ resumed assembly of Skoda cars. The Czech company Skoda Auto, part of the Volkswagen Group, has decided to provide additional support to Ukraine on the economic front and resumed supplies of car kits to our country.

In particular, the first batch of 80 SKD sets of KODIAQ and KAROQ crossovers was shipped to Ukraine. SKD (Semi Knocked Down) means that the power unit (engine, transmission, front axle), rear axle, wheels, exhaust, and propeller shaft for 4 × 4 models are dismantled from the finished car. The main components together with the body are sent for reassembly to the plant in Ukraine.

It should be noted that the increase in production will directly depend on the development of the war in Ukraine. The vacant premises of the plant will continue to be the residence of temporarily displaced persons.

It will be recalled that PJSC Eurocar is located in the Uzhhorod district of the Zakarpattia region. The Eurocar plant is bordered by Slovakia and Hungary. Construction began on July 23, 2001, and since then, the company has been constantly implementing innovation and investment activities. On December 19, 2011, Eurocar celebrated its tenth anniversary of the plant’s technical launch in 2001. The total investment in the Eurocar project is $250 million.
