We had to close airports: Moscow authorities complain about a new UAV attack (video)

According to the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, the drone was destroyed on the approach to Moscow, it crashed in the neighboring town of Lyubertsy. The Russian Defense Ministry traditionally accused Ukraine of a “terrorist attack.”

On the night of August 28, the Russian Federation was again restless. Airports were forced to shut down, and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin complained about the UAV attack on his Telegram channel.

The airports in question are Vnukovo and Domodedovo, which for some time have not been accepting or operating passenger flights due to the threat of a UAV strike, according to the Russian media.

In total, about 15 flights were delayed while the danger persisted. Later in the morning, the airports reopened.

At the same time, Sergei Sobyanin said that the Russian air defense system allegedly managed to intercept a drone moving toward Moscow.

“Today, air defense forces destroyed a drone flying towards Moscow near Lyubertsy. There were no casualties or damage. Emergency services are working at the scene,” the statement said.

He gave no further details on the matter.

Russian Telegram channels also began sharing some footage from the attack, which was captured by surveillance cameras. You can hardly see anything on them except for a bright flash of light in the middle of the night.

The Russian Defense Ministry has also accused Ukraine of this.

It is worth noting that the number of UAV attacks on the Russian Federation has been increasing recently. For example, on the night of August 26, the mayor of the Russian capital also reported a new kamikaze drone attack on the Moscow region, but the air defense forces allegedly managed to destroy everything.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the attack and traditionally blamed it on Ukraine. Airports were also closed for the duration of the emergency.
