Women tourists banned from national park in Afghanistan

Due to non-compliance with the rules of wearing hijab, the Taliban banned women tourists from walking in Bandi Amir National Park in Bamiyan province

This was reported by TOLOnews.

It became known that the ban on visiting the national park was announced by the Taliban Minister of Virtue Propaganda and Prevention of Vice, Muhammad Khaled Hanafi. He clarified that the ban will remain in effect until special rules are developed because tourism is not a vital necessity.

“Our wives and sisters will not be able to visit Bandi Amir until we set rules for them. Security forces, elders and the morality police must take action. Tourism is not a necessity of life,” the official said.

However, Muhammad Hanafi did not explain what the rules should be and who will come up with them. Religious leaders in Bamiyan province, where Bandi Amir National Park is located, accuse female visitors of not complying with the hijab regulations. According to them, violators of the Islamic dress code come from other provinces or from abroad.
