Yemeni Houthis seize Israeli ship in the Red Sea – Al Arabiya

The Israeli military said on November 19 that Yemeni Houthis had seized a cargo ship in the Red Sea as it was heading from Turkey to India.

This was reported by Al Arabiya.

Israel called it “a very serious incident at the global level” because there were many civilians of different nationalities besides Israelis.

“The ship sailed from Turkey to India, filled with civilians of various nationalities, not including Israelis. It is not an Israeli ship,” the military assured.

Earlier it was reported that the Israeli ship Galaxy Leader was hijacked by a group of Yemeni Houthis – according to known data, there were 22 people on board.

Yahya Sarea, a spokesman for the Iranian-backed Houthis, said the group would target all ships owned or operated by Israeli companies and flying the Israeli flag. He also called on all countries to recall their citizens working on the crews of such ships.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, said they launched a “large number” of ballistic missiles and drones toward Israel on October 31.
