YouTube will get 30 new features, including stable volume and melody recognition
Google has announced many new features for its popular video streaming platform. YouTube will receive about 30 new features and design updates. Not all of them are noteworthy, but some users were looking forward to them. It features stable volume, library updates, and a Shazam-like song search function.
Stable volume provides sound control on mobile devices. The feature removes the annoying difference in video volume, so users won’t be jumped by loud noise. It is currently enabled in the default settings, so you need to disable it manually.
You can play videos (in full screen or portrait mode) at double speed by clicking anywhere on the player (with the mouse pointer or finger, depending on the device) and holding down the button. Once you’ve scrolled to the desired part of the video, release the button. This feature will be available in a web browser, on tablets and mobile devices. The enlarged preview images make it easier to find the passage you need.
Google is also introducing an additional screen lock on phones and tablets so that accidental touching of the screen does not stop video playback.
The Library/Media tab will be merged with the account page into a new section called “You”. Here users can find previously watched videos, playlists, downloads and purchases, as well as account settings and channel information. The new tab will be launched soon and will be located in web browsers, mobile devices, and tablets where the Library/Media tab used to be. Update the YouTube app so that it appears on your smartphone.
YouTube will also be able to recognize songs playing near the user. Google is integrating a feature that resembles Shazam for this purpose. You can sing or play a melody, and YouTube will find it using artificial intelligence. Google wants to introduce this feature in the next few weeks, first on Android devices. All of the above features will be available to users in the coming weeks.
