YouTube will separate short and regular videos
Individual filters will appear inside the Videos tab on the channel page
YouTube will create tabs for regular, short, and streaming videos within the Videos section of channels. The change will affect the programs and web interface of the service. In its message, the company explains the change with user feedback. YouTube believes that the innovation will make it easier for viewers to find content that interests them more.
Currently, channels have a single ‘Videos’ tab, where all videos are collected, regardless of format. Existing content filters disappear when the visitor leaves the channel page.
This approach can make things a bit difficult for users who want to watch everything the channel releases in one place. For others, the convenience is obvious – many content creators create short clips from their regular videos and upload them as shorts. Setting up the page each time causes certain inconveniences. This also works the other way around – the user can select all the shorts to watch.
In good news for YouTube and content creators, the company recently announced that starting next year, creators in its partner program will receive a portion of revenue from ads that play before short videos. This could give the platform an advantage over TikTok, which currently pays creators through a special fund and allows them to earn from tips.
The changes, which give each type of content a separate tab, went live on Thursday and will be rolled out to most users in the coming weeks. In Ukraine, YouTube now still looks the same as before.
