Three French companies to produce weapons in Ukraine
A trio of French arms manufacturers will cooperate with Ukrainian counterparts to create conditions for the opening of arms assembly plants in Ukraine, according to a statement by French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecorneuil.
This step is intended to help Kyiv confront the Russian aggressors by setting up the production of spare parts, shells and ammunition in Ukraine. Drones and ground equipment were named as areas of future cooperation. The launch of production facilities is scheduled for the summer trimester.
One of the companies to enter the Ukrainian market will be KNDS, a tanker maker formed by the French company Nexter and the German concern Krauss-Maffei-Wegmann.
The deployment of weapons production in Ukraine is an important step in supporting the country in its fight against Russian aggression, experts agree.
