YouTube declares war on ad blockers: a new method is already in place
“YouTube is introducing a new measure to counter ad blockers, making it harder to view content without a YouTube Premium subscription.
Previously, the platform used various methods of counteraction, such as slowing down the site, delaying video loading, and pausing the video with a reminder to disable the blocker. However, users found ways to circumvent these measures. In this regard, the service has resorted to a new tactic: the video is automatically rewound to the end if an ad blocker is detected. Thus, viewers are forced to either watch ads or subscribe to YouTube Premium.
The platform has been consistently strengthening measures against ad blockers. A simple message asking users to disable the ad filter was ignored, and the decrease in streaming speed caused inconvenience, but was not stopped by users. The new approach is intended to force the audience to abandon blockers, as “skipping” the video to the very end prevents the viewer from viewing the content.

Users’ attempts to circumvent the new restriction by rewinding or using other extensions have not yet been successful: the video either rewinds to the end or loads endlessly. Alternatives currently include hoping for improvements in ad blockers or subscribing to YouTube Premium, which eliminates ads and related issues for a small monthly fee.
“YouTube is also introducing new features in its branded services. The YouTube Music app for Android now has a feature similar to Shazam: users can hum, whistle, or play a song recording to find out the track name. The new feature appears as a sound wave icon next to the microphone in the top right corner of the search screen.
