Ukraine has created a military drone Damocles for $2000: why it is dangerous for Russians (video)

The drone is capable of flying behind enemy lines and transmitting video up to 45 kilometers. According to the military, Damocles will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Ukrainian specialists have developed a new Damocles drone that is already helping the military destroy Russian forces. The details of the project and the characteristics of the device were reported by the Odesa-based website Dumska.

The drone with a “flying wing” design has a 15 A battery that provides a working time of up to 2 hours. According to the developers, the powerful communication system is well protected against electronic warfare and allows operators to control Damocles at a distance of up to 60 km, as well as guaranteed to receive real-time video at a distance of up to 45 km. In this case, the operating altitude is from 150 to 1500 meters.

A team of Ukrainian developers assembled the first prototype in the fall of 2020, and soon handed over four UAVs to the Ukrainian military for testing. It then took into account the feedback and improved the model by adding a second camera at the bottom of the vehicle and enhancing its resistance to EW with modified telemetry and non-standard transmitters.

A serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces aerial reconnaissance unit with the call sign “Kayat” said that Damocles will help them conduct reconnaissance and adjust artillery fire behind enemy lines, at distances of 15 km and beyond. Commercial quadcopters such as DJI Mavic simply cannot get there because of Russian electronic warfare.

“Having received such a reconnaissance tool, we will significantly increase the efficiency of our artillery,” the Armed Forces representative emphasized.

The day before, the Ukrainian company Ukrspecsystems has presented a new MiniShark UAV. The compact aircraft flies at a speed of 120 km/h and transmits video to the military at a distance of up to 35 km.
