- At the end of June, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry stated that a Russian subversive group was planning a terrorist attack in residential areas of the Belarusian city of Mozyr to draw Belarus into a war against Ukraine. Mercenaries from Russian PMCs controlled by Prigozhin and Shoigu will act, and it will be presented as “revenge” on the part of Ukrainians. Mozyr, it should be noted, also has an oil refinery.
- According to the deputy head of the SBU in 2014-2015, Major General Viktor Yahun, panic ensued in Mozyr. Voluntary people’s guards are being formed in the city to go around looking for possible saboteurs.
- On August 4, the SBU uncovered a plan by Russia to conduct a terrorist attack on an oil refinery in Belarus to blame Ukraine and drag Minsk into the war. The Russian DRG, which consists of career military personnel, is to be under the cover of Wagner’s men and will operate under the guise of Ukrainian saboteurs.
