Azerbaijan captures Russian electronic warfare systems “Repelent-1” and “Pole-21M”

The Repelent-1 and Pole-21M electronic warfare systems are actively used by the Russian army, so their analysis can really help to neutralize them.

The Azerbaijani armed forces received extremely valuable trophies after the completion of a less than 24-hour operation to regain full control over Nagorno-Karabakh. These were at least two electronic warfare systems, Repellent-1 and Pole-21M.

A video available online shows this military equipment left in boxes along with spare parts. They tried to disable the electronic warfare equipment before leaving it behind. But in a rather controversial way – by destroying monitors and indicators.

At the same time, the units themselves, with the equipment that allows for a detailed study of the complex’s capabilities, look intact. This means the ability to obtain all the necessary details to study the complexes, remove signatures, etc., and develop countermeasures.

It is extremely important that, in addition to Azerbaijan itself, Turkey, which is the main partner and ally of the country, which in turn is a NATO member, may be quite interested in the results of the analysis. Thus, it is likely that all the information received could reach Ukraine quite quickly.

These weapons are also another proof that units of the Armenian armed forces were stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh even after the end of the second war over Karabakh, which was officially denied by Yerevan. It should be recalled that the Armenian armed forces received these Russian electronic warfare systems approximately in 2018 and later.

The Repellent-1 complex has been in service with the Russian army since 2017. Its main purpose is to suppress UAVs, which it can do, according to declarations, at a range of up to 30 km.

Repellent-1

The Pole-21 system has been supplied to the Russian army since 2016 and is designed to suppress satellite navigation channels, with a declared capacity of 150 square kilometers. It is often mounted not on a moving chassis, but on civilian infrastructure, such as mobile communication towers.

“Pole-21”

It should be noted that both electronic warfare systems of the Russian army are being actively destroyed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. But there is no official data on the capture of this enemy equipment as trophies by our defenders.
