Baykar Makina expresses readiness to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with Akinci heavy drones
The Defense Forces may be armed with promising heavy attack UAVs. We are talking about Bayraktar Akinci, capable of carrying TRG-230 IHA supersonic guided missiles, JDAM smart bombs and other modern munitions. This became known from Haluk Bayraktar.
The head of Baykar Makina noted that the Akinci drone differs from the Bayraktar TB2 already in use by the Ukrainian military in terms of takeoff weight. The weight is 4,500 kg compared to 650 kg for the TB2. The new aircraft is more versatile and advanced. It can be used for a wide range of tasks, including radio reconnaissance, electronic warfare and air combat.
The promising drone is equipped with more advanced sensors, including a synthetic aperture radar, electronic support and electronic warfare. During a recent test, Akinci successfully hit a target 140 kilometers away with a missile. In addition, the UAV successfully launched the TRG-230 IHA missile, which belongs to the air-to-ground class.
Turkish authorities have granted Baykar Makina a license to manufacture TB2 and Akinci drones in Ukraine. They will be assembled at the facilities of Avia Ventures, which will be commissioned in 2025.
