On September 13, on the Day of the city of Bucha in Kyiv, the Oscar cinema presented a teaser trailer for the upcoming Ukrainian drama ‘Bucha’, which is based on real events that took place in this city, as well as in Vorzel, Gostomel and Irpen during the Russian occupation in February- April 2022. The film is directed by Stanislav Tiunov (producer of ‘Date in Vegas’, ‘Producer’, director of ‘Youth’).

The main character is Kostyantyn Gudauskas, a citizen of Kazakhstan, who saved more than 200 people from the occupied Kyiv region. Thanks to his Kazakh passport, Konstantin has the opportunity to travel to the territory occupied by Russian troops and take out civilians. During the rescue, he witnesses numerous war crimes and atrocities committed by the Russian occupiers – murder, robbery, rape. The film will also include a scene of the rescue of the famous Ukrainian composer and laureate of the Shevchenko Prize Ihor Poklad, who was in his home in Vorzel during the events of the film.

The role of the main antagonist went to Vyacheslav Dovzhenko, a Ukrainian theater and film actor, laureate of the ‘Golden Dzyga’ award for the best male role. The casting of actors for the remaining roles will continue until the end of the year.

The author of the main soundtrack for the film was Isa Melikov, a well-known Azerbaijani composer and producer. The film will also feature several works by Ihor Poklad, such as ‘The Power of a Bird’ and March of the Hundred from the operetta ‘The Witch of Konotop’.

The creative team of the film aims to participate in international A-class festivals, as well as to present the film on worldwide streams.

‘After it became known in April what was happening in Bucha and other cities of Ukraine that were occupied, it became clear that the whole world should learn about the tragedy of the Ukrainian people,’ says Oleksandr Shchur, producer of the film ‘Bucha’. — We believe that the implementation of this project will help Ukraine attract the attention of the international community and will encourage increasing economic and military aid in the future’

The trailer was shot at the expense of American investors, and they plan to finance the production of the film exclusively at the expense of foreign investors and patrons. Filming of the film is planned for December-January, and the premiere is scheduled for the anniversary of the tragedy.
