Combat robots “spiders” may appear in the Armed Forces of Ukraine Funnel Web with rocket launchers
The Ukrainian government is considering the purchase of Australian-made autonomous combat robots for the Armed Forces. According to The Sun, the Funnel Web robotic mechanisms are designed to destroy enemy infantry and vehicles.
Media sources claim that representatives of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry are closely monitoring the project. The ministry believes that Funnel Web robots can help the Ukrainian Armed Forces break through the defense line. The fact is that they are equipped with an autonomous system for launching missiles.
The Funnel Web robot owes its name to the deadly Australian spider of the same name. To control it, an extremely simple handheld device is used. The robot’s operator assesses the situation with the help of built-in video cameras. They are also used for more accurate targeting of missiles.
With a weight of 1.5 kg, the launchers have dimensions of 60×900 mm. The rocket is 1.2 meters long. The compact size allows robotic mechanisms to approach enemy positions unnoticed for destruction. The spider robots are manufactured by Black Sky Aerospace. Its management recommends purchasing them not only for Ukraine but also for neighboring EU countries.
