Denis Villeneuve is preparing his third film Dune: Script almost written
“Dune” director Denis Villeneuve has shared the latest information about the potential third film in the saga. He said that the script is currently being written and is almost finished.
The third film will be based on Dune Messiah, a sequel to Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel.
“There is a dream to make a sequel, to make ‘Messiah,’ the third film that will be the end of Paul Atreides’ journey,” Villeneuve told the Korean press at a recent press conference in Seoul. “This movie is very meaningful to me. The script is almost ready, but it’s not finished yet, it will take some time.”
Despite the fact that the script is almost finished, Villeneuve is not ready to plunge into full-fledged work on the third Dune right away. The director said that he might want to “take a break from the sand” and work on another project before returning to his favorite planet for the third time.
In any case, for now, we should focus on waiting for Dune: Part Two, which is due out in theaters on March 1, 2024.
The second part continues the events of the first film, where Paul Atreides, embodied by Timothée Chalamet, leads the Freemen to take revenge against those who killed his family.
Zendaya returns as Chani. Javier Bardem and Rebecca Ferguson are also returning. Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, and Lea Seydoux join the main cast.
