For the first time in Ukrainian medicine: artificial intelligence will help fight tuberculosis

For the first time in Ukraine, TB centers in Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, and Sumy regions have started using artificial intelligence to diagnose tuberculosis.

This was reported by the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Artificial intelligence automatically analyzes X-rays and displays areas of potential pathology in the form of a lung heat map, which allows detecting lesions with a probability of 1% to 100%.

“The equipment has already been installed and is being used by healthcare professionals who have been trained in the use of AI systems in TB diagnostics.
Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

AI systems for diagnostic data processing are successfully used in more than 40 countries.

According to the World Health Organization, tuberculosis is the second leading cause of death in the world. Every year, more than 10 million people get sick with tuberculosis.

“Diagnostics, early detection of the disease and discipline in following the doctor’s recommendations are the secret of successful treatment.
