Lviv became the first Ukrainian city to join the international Strong Cities network.

The Strong Cities network provides Lviv with partnership opportunities and tools to improve cooperation between communities and law enforcement agencies, promote inclusive and tolerant societies, and much more.
“This is an important step for our city. Joining Strong Cities opens up new opportunities for our city to combat the challenges of terrorism, extremism and other social threats. Together with other cities, we will be able to create a safe environment and take care of the well-being of our citizens,” said Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, who is on a working visit to Washington, DC.
The global Strong Cities initiative was launched in 2015. It brings together city leaders, experts, and civil society representatives to share experiences and develop strategies to prevent radicalization, strengthen equality, and support the development of resilient cities in challenging environments.
Currently, the network includes more than 200 cities, including Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, Strasbourg, Athens, Amsterdam, and Bratislava.
Lviv can become the European capital of sled hockey.
