Moldova helps Ukraine catch those hiding from mobilization

Moldovan border guards will cooperate with the Ukrainian authorities and return men who try to illegally cross the border, thus evading general mobilization. We are talking about those who are trying to escape from the territory of Ukraine through the Transnistrian region.

This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Moldova Adrian Efros.

According to him, most often men aged 18 to 60 illegally cross the border and use Transnistria for this purpose.

“In fact, every week we conduct one or two operations to combat and destroy various schemes on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, organized by citizens of the Republic of Moldova or jointly with citizens of Ukraine,” he said.

Efros noted that Moldovan law enforcement agencies are monitoring routes from Transnistria and are trying to establish closer ties with their Ukrainian counterparts.

“We personally discussed with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine the issue of resumption of joint patrolling in Transnistria by the Ukrainian side. In this way, we will be able to prevent and deter mass illegal border crossings,” he said.

Border guards say that there is currently no criminal liability for illegal border crossing in Ukraine, so some men have been caught more than once trying to flee the country.

A representative of the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, listed the most popular routes among the evaders.

“As for the ‘green’ section of the border, we continue to record the most attempts to illegally cross the border in the direction of the border with Moldova and Romania. It should be understood that offenders often seek help from criminal organized groups that promise to assist them in crossing the border illegally and ask for up to 10 thousand UAH for such a service. dollars,” he said.
