The Union of Road Carriers of Slovakia (UNAS) has announced that it is ready to completely block the Vysne Nemecke-Uzhhorod border crossing point if the situation with the abolition of the permit system for Ukrainian truckers is not resolved.
According to Yevropeiska Pravda, he posted this on Facebook.
According to the carriers, they realize that the way to solve the problem is not easy, but at the same time, they called it unacceptable that the current situation continues to exist.
“That is why UNAS remains in a state of readiness for a strike, and if there is no other alternative to resolve the situation, UNAS is ready to completely block the Vysne Nemecke-Uzhhorod border crossing in both directions,” the statement said.
The carriers thanked the Minister of Transport of Slovakia Josef Raz for raising the issue of the abolition of the permit system for Ukrainian carriers and its impact on road transport in Slovakia in Brussels.
“We would also like to thank him for meeting with UNAS representatives on Thursday, December 7, where we will also discuss the impact of this situation and seek solutions to change it,” the statement said.
The day before, the blockade of the Vysne Nemecke-Uzhhorod checkpoint on the border with Slovakia was suspended.
Earlier, the European Commission said it opposed the resumption of the permit system for Ukrainian truckers, as demanded by Polish and Slovak border blockers.
As a reminder, on December 1, Slovak carriers began the announced blockade of truck traffic at a checkpoint near Uzhhorod.
At the same time, the blockade of Polish carriers has been going on since November 6, and its key demand is to return the permit system for Ukrainian carriers.
