The DIU officially confirmed that Narodnyi Sputnik helped destroy a Russian submarine and a large landing ship “Minsk”
A year ago, it became known that Serhiy Prytula’s Charitable Foundation had purchased an ICEYE satellite for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. On September 20, 2022, it began to function. It turned out that the spacecraft was involved in a recent operation that resulted in Russia’s loss of a submarine and a ship.
On September 13, a bay in Sevastopol was attacked with cruise missiles. The strike destroyed the large landing ship Minsk and the submarine Rostov-on-Don, which can carry Kalibr missiles.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has officially confirmed that the satellite played a very important role in this operation. However, the agency does not disclose any more information.
In addition, an image published by the Main Intelligence Directorate indicates that the spacecraft was observing the Diagilevo airfield in the Ryazan region. There were two Tu-95MS strategic bombers, two Tu-22M3 missile carriers, and three Il-76/78 transport aircraft. S-300/400 systems were monitored in the Belgorod region.
Ukraine has already noted the effectiveness of the satellite several times. In particular, in two days, it was used to destroy Russian armored vehicles worth more than $20 million. In March 2023, intelligence reported that the spacecraft had found 45 airplanes, 27 helicopters, 36 S-300 and Pantsir-S1 systems.
