The Ministry of Health will complicate the life of anti-vaccination parents

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has reminded parents that their children who are not vaccinated against measles will not be allowed to attend school.

Unless there are specific contraindications, parents who do not want to vaccinate their children for their own reasons, the Ministry of Health emphasized, can exercise their right to education outside of school.

“If parents refuse to vaccinate a child who has no contraindications to vaccination, he or she can exercise his or her right to study remotely or in an individual form of education (for example, family education),” the Ministry emphasized.

They assured us that Ukraine has enough vaccines to provide vaccination to all unvaccinated children.

The Ministry of Health also reminded why it is important that children in groups are vaccinated. Namely:

  • The measles vaccine primarily protects your child from an infection that can cause significant harm to their health;
  • A child who is not vaccinated but is in the same group with other children becomes a source of danger for them;
  • Children’s groups usually have a high risk of spreading infections. It is important to create herd immunity to prevent the spread of measles;
  • Measles vaccination is especially important given that some children have their own illnesses that prevent them from being vaccinated. So, those who have this opportunity but neglect it are setting up vulnerable people.

The Ministry of Health reminds that the schedule of necessary vaccinations for a child can be clarified with a family doctor. If the child does not have it, he or she will be given an individualized vaccination plan based on age.
