What has been updated in the Ukrainian Bohdana air defense system: technical details

More detailed characteristics of the updated version of the 155-millimeter self-propelled artillery system SAU 2S22 “Bogdana” have become known.

Ukrainian developers of the self-propelled gun disclosed the details during the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2023), which is coming to an end in Turkey.

By the way, the Auto24 editorial team carefully analyzed the list of exhibitors and did not find Russia among the participating countries as one of the largest arms manufacturers and exporters – either the world no longer believes in Russian weapons, or the Russians realized that visitors would avoid their stands.

But the stand of Ukrainian manufacturers was not empty during all the days of the exhibition. From the presentation materials and comments of the developers, it became known that the 52-caliber gun has a rate of fire of five rounds per minute. It fires 155-millimeter shells at a distance of 40-45 kilometers.

In the transport mode, the 28-ton self-propelled vehicle can wade through water up to 1.2 meters deep, move up hills with an upward angle of 30 degrees or along slopes with a side angle of 25 degrees.

The self-propelled vehicle can travel off-road at a speed of no more than 30 km/h. In this mode, one refueling will last for 500 kilometers. On paved roads, it can reach 80 km/h, with a fuel reserve of 800 km. At the same time, the Bohdana can carry an ammunition package of two dozen shells in its niches.
