Apple plans to release a flexible MacBook model

Apple is in talks with display suppliers to release a flexible model of the MacBook laptop, BusinessKorea reports.

Apple is expected to release a flexible laptop in 2026. Korean companies are also actively working on the development and production of flexible OLED panels for laptops, responding to the opening of the market for flexible panels for IT devices.

Samsung Display is going to invest $3.1 billion in the production of 8.6th generation OLED panels, planning to start production from 2025 to 2026. LG Display is also investing in the development of medium-sized OLED panels, including for tablet PCs.

Larger display sizes are always more profitable from a financial point of view, although they are difficult to achieve high resolution. Also, flexible displays for laptops are more profitable than displays for smartphones.

Despite the fact that Korean manufacturers have already introduced laptops with OLED panels, none of them has yet released a laptop with flexible OLED panels. Samsung Electronics has just registered a trademark for folding laptops.
