Britain delivers modernized Scimitar reconnaissance vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine: what is known about them

The UK will provide Ukraine with Scimitar Mk II armored reconnaissance vehicles.

Representatives of BAE Systems traveled to Germany to support the British military in preparing reconnaissance vehicles for delivery to Ukraine.

They carried out diagnostics and troubleshooting, provided technical advice and repair recommendations, advised on the safety of using the vehicles, conducted road tests and participated in the repair process.

In total, 23 Scimitar machines were successfully prepared within 32 days.

The Scimitar Mk II is a modernized version of the CVRT Scimitar armored reconnaissance vehicle. It is equipped with a 30-mm cannon that can fire at a rate of up to 90 rounds per minute. The hull and turret of the vehicle have enhanced mine protection and are equipped with electronic countermeasures to protect against improvised explosive devices. The weight is up to 13 thousand kilograms, and its maximum speed on the road reaches 90 km per hour.

It is worth mentioning that one of the world’s largest defense companies, the British BAE Systems, has opened an office in Ukraine. The company’s Ukrainian unit will produce L119 howitzers of 105 mm caliber in accordance with NATO standards.
