Fire at a large oil depot in Sevastopol: rescuers are unable to fight the fire (photos, video)
Oil storage facility catches fire due to drone attack, occupants wait for fire train to help. Crimean deputies call for the destruction of all oil storage facilities in Odesa in retaliation.
In Sevastopol, a fuel tank on Manganari Brothers Street in Kozacha Bay has been on fire for several hours, and firefighters have been unable to extinguish the fire. This was reported by the Russian media outlet 112.
The fire was caused by a drone strike, with no injuries or deaths. The fire has been assigned the highest level of difficulty, and a fire train is expected to arrive, the journalists said.
The Kremlin-appointed “governor” of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, assures that the situation is under control of all operational services. 18 fire brigades and 60 firefighters have been sent to the scene of the fire.
“Since the volume of fuel is large, it takes time to localize the fire. Civilian objects are not in danger. No one was injured,” the collaborator emphasized.
Razvozhayev believes that the fire will not affect the fuel situation in the city. The reserves are not involved in supplying fuel to gas stations.
“The fire is complicated, our firefighters are coping with everything, but there are still many hours of work to be done” he said.
The TASS news agency reports that a column of black smoke from the fire was seen several kilometers from the fire. There is no strong wind in Sevastopol, so the smoke is not spreading through residential neighborhoods.
Police checkpoints have been set up on the roads to the neighborhood, and everyone entering and leaving is being checked for documents. There is no panic on the streets, the propagandists assured.
Crimea calls to destroy all oil storage facilities in Odesa
Senator of the Russian Federation Council from occupied Crimea Olga Kovitidi called for a strike on oil storage facilities in Odesa in response to the attack on Sevastopol.
“On the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces drone on Sevastopol and the fire at the oil depot in Kozacha Bay. We have no more time for slow dancing. All oil storage facilities in Odesa must be destroyed” she said.
The military command in Moscow, in her opinion, should make a strategic decision to neutralize Odesa as a military base of Ukraine.
According to Razvozhayev, the area of the fire at the oil depot in Sevastopol was almost 1000 square meters.
