MEGOGO, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Digital Transformation launched Ukrlit – free access to more than 250 works of Ukrainian literature in audio format
The MEGOGO platform has launched a library of Ukrainian literature in audio format. It offers over 250 pieces from the school curriculum for grades 5-11. The list of materials is compiled in accordance with the current curriculum for secondary schools in Ukrainian literature.
Among the works available are Lina Kostenko’s Wings, Ivan Nechuy-Levytsky’s The Kaydashev Family, Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky’s Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, Mykola Khvylovyi’s I (Romance), Valerian Pidmohylnyi’s The City, and others. Some great works, such as Ivan Kotliarevsky’s Aeneid, Yuriy Yanovsky’s Master of the Ship, Oleksandr Dovzhenko’s Enchanted Desna, and others, have been processed by the team and are offered in the format of samari (a short retelling of a work). The total duration of the audio library exceeds 108 hours.
The content for the Ukrlit project was created by the MEGOGO AUDIO team. The project is being implemented by the MEGOGO media service and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the information support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Diia.Osvita platform. The team has engaged professional theater and film actors and media personalities to voice the works. Thus, the works of Ukrainian literature were narrated by Volodymyr Dantes, Oleksandr Pedan, Roxolana, alyona alyona, Antonio Lukic, Hryhorii Baklanov, Anna Koshmal, Timur Miroshnychenko, and Nata Zhyzhchenko.
The Ukrlit project is available for free in the MEGOGO mobile app in the Audio section. The app is available on iOS and Android platforms. According to Forbes, the project’s budget is over UAH 1 million. MEGOGO plans to add full versions and excerpts of works, as well as update and supplement them with new ones that appear in the program.
