Online during blackouts: The Ministry of Digital Transformation creates a map of providers that will provide Internet during blackouts

The Ministry of Digital Transformation will develop a map of providers that can provide users with Internet access for up to 72 hours during power outages. The map will soon be available in Kyiv.

This was reported by the press service of the department.

“We have signed a memorandum of cooperation with LUN.Misto: we are working on a map of providers that can provide users with the Internet for up to 72 hours during power outages,” the statement reads.

It is noted that Ukrainians will be able to check whether their provider provides such Internet. If not, you can choose the nearest one and apply for connection.

“This will allow us to stay online even during long power outages. It will also help to avoid overloading mobile networks. The more people are connected to Wi-Fi, the longer the mobile connection will remain stable,” the ministry explained.

  • Earlier this month, Yuriy Matsyk, director of the Fixed Internet Development Department at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, reported that only 9% of Kyiv’s fixed-line subscribers have connections to PON-based networks that are resistant to long power outages.
