On the battlefield: Israel tests 12-meter Seagull unmanned boat (video)

The surface drone is designed to perform high-risk tasks. During the invasion, Hamas militants used a variety of maritime means to land on the shore.

The Israeli Navy is using Seagull unmanned surface boats as part of its operation against Hamas militants. This was reported by IsraelDefense magazine.

The Israeli company Elbit Systems has developed and manufactures Seagull unmanned surface boats. In the war against militants, the military used the latest development for the first time. The drone’s capabilities include detecting mines, underwater infrastructure, and submarines.

Currently, there is at least 1 Seagull in the arsenal of the Israeli Navy. The fact is that during the fighting, Israel faced submarine and surface attack ships from Hamas militants. On October 7, the Navy prevented militants’ attempts to invade Israeli territory from the sea.

The Seagull is now one of the Navy’s additional elements for defense from the sea. The absence of a crew allows for high-risk tasks, such as detecting sea mines. The unmanned boat itself was developed in 2016. Due to its modularity, the boat is able to perform a wide range of tasks. There is also a version with a remote-controlled 12.7 mm combat module. According to the declared characteristics, Seagull is capable of operating at sea for more than 4 days. The drone can be controlled from the ground or from another ship.
