Due to the increase in taxes, autogas is already more expensive in wholesale purchases
The introduction of an excise tax on fuel already leads to an increase in prices both on the wholesale market and at retail gas stations. In the near future, the price of retail autogas will increase by at least 1-2 hryvnias per liter.
The price of liquefied gas in the group for the week (16-23) increased by UAH 1,430/t (3.3%) compared to last week, to UAH 44,270/t. At the same time, the range of working prices is within 41,500-46,000 UAH/t, depending on the region. This is evidenced by the monitoring data of the ‘A-95’ Consulting Group.
The biggest increase — +1,000 hryvnias/t — took place on Thursday, the day after the deputies approved the excise bill as a whole. As a reminder, this document envisages the refund of the excise tax on liquefied gas in the amount of €52/1000 liters.
According to him, another factor that influenced the price increase is the increase in the purchase price of the resource from European suppliers. ‘Moreover, as far as I understand, they also raised prices for various reasons. In particular, due to the increase in prices in other, adjacent markets, and the increase in demand for it in Ukraine,’ he says.
He emphasizes that despite the fact that the excise tax has not yet been paid, all operators have gradually included it in the price of the product. ‘But it should be noted that when the excise tax ‘comes’, there will be no such increase in prices in the band,’ the interlocutor of the publication adds.
Retail chains, mainly those operating in the economy and middle segments, are already beginning to respond to the excise tax. Thus, according to ‘A-95’ data, this week the price of the product in the ‘Avantage 7’ and KLO networks increased by 20 kopecks/l, to 24.15 and 25.83 hryvnias/l, respectively. AMIC, Shell and Chipo also raised prices by 10-50 kopecks/l.
‘The premium segment is still holding on due to the margin, but in a week or two they will raise it as well,’ he concludes, noting that on average, due to the return of the excise tax, gas station prices will rise by UAH 1-2 per liter of autogas.
