US sends new weapons to Ukraine after accounting error

This is the beginning of the distribution of funds after an accounting error by the US Department of Defense: the cost of weapons provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was mistakenly overstated by $6.2 billion. The reason for this accounting error was the Pentagon’s use of the cost of weapons that replace the equipment transferred to Ukraine. According to the agency, the mistake worked in Kyiv’s favor, as it can now get more weapons.
The new aid will include missiles for Patriot air defense systems, guided missile launchers (GMLRS) for multiple launch rocket systems (e.g., HIMARS and M270 MLRS), anti-tank missiles for Javelin man-portable systems, TOW anti-tank guided missiles, AT4 anti-tank grenade launchers, mine clearance equipment, and more.

According to The Washington Post, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the United States has provided Kyiv with $66.2 billion in aid.
Military support amounted to $43 billion: 23.5 for weapons directly, 18 for logistics, training and consulting, and 1.5 for loans to other countries to purchase weapons. Budgetary support amounted to $20.5 billion, and humanitarian support, including assistance to refugees, amounted to $2.6 billion.
